Mayor Nikolai Osipovich Loskovich

On the street Nizhne-Pokrovskaya at the end of the 20th century Nikolai Osipovich Loskovich bought a mansion, who from 1908 to 1915 occupied the post of the mayor in Polotsk. Detailed information from the biography of N.O. Loskovich preserved a bit. It is known that Nikolai Osipovich was born in a peasant family. In 1886, at the age of 28, he graduated from the Vilna Teachers' Institute, and after 8 years fate connected Nikolai Osipovich forever with our city, where he received the teaching position of the Polotsk Teacher's Seminary.

At that time it was considered the norm to teach in several schools at once, therefore at the beginning of the 20th century Loskovich combined his mentoring work with teaching in the Polotsk Women's Gymnasium. In 1910, as a mayor, he took part in the preparation of such a significant event for Polotsk as the transfer of the relics of St. Euphrosynya of Polotsk.

Already after the revolution N.O. Loskovich became the head of the 8th Soviet labor school I stage, which was located in a small wooden outhouse near the stone mansion. Today in this building, located at ul. Nizhne-Pokrovskaya, 17, is the main office of the construction company "Financier-28".
