The House of Peter I: from the legend to the museum exhibition

It is difficult to imagine that the history of one building can be very closely connected with the history of the whole city. But it really happens and in our city there is a living example. This is the House of Peter I, whose history is not simply associated with the name of the first emperor of the Russian Empire, but also closely intertwined with the history of one of the oldest streets of Polotsk. It was in this building exactly 20 years ago that the stationary exhibition “Walk along Nizhne-Pokrovskaya” was opened - the only museum in Belarus dedicated to the history of one street at a certain time. The museum exposition tells about the people who lived on this street in the early 20th century, about the buildings and institutions that were on it. We offer you to get acquainted with the most vivid and interesting moments from the life of this unique building, which in the course of several centuries of its existence has turned from a Jesuit legend into an amazing museum.
